An Old Yogi
I began my yoga practice in front of my television in residency, using DVDs from Shiva Rea and Yoga Zone, now 20 years ago.

I stumbled into a hot yoga studio nearly by accident, when practicing--both surgery and yoga--several years later in Salt Lake City. I tripped, fell, and landed in an incredible and dynamic community of men and women--recovering engineers, recovering addicts, recovering athletes, practicing teachers, counselors, and I'm pretty sure at least one witch.

My community experience leveled up my physical practice and began the mind work I continue with yoga. I learned about setting intentions, releasing self-judgment, and being open to the whispers of the universe, whether the whispers come in vague physical sensations or glaring billboards. I learned. I practiced. I failed. I tried again. If you've ever tried a headstand for the first time--or to meditate without letting the thoughts take your mind from your breath--you have failed too. When you believe that your failures are ok, you have learned self-compassion!

If the language of yoga applies to your journey, then let's speak it. I look forward to connecting with you.

Sincerely,
Jill
